It’s been a long time since Eedris gifted us with his landmark hit “Jaga Jaga”, and almost 20 years later, we finally have the sequel. Featuring the talent of Mr Raw and Madarocka Chi, this faithful retake on Jaga Jaga brings Eedris fans everything they’d expect, considering how dire the world is even nowadays. It’s sad to think about, but we aren’t going to have a perfect society – and Eedris knows that. But he also knows we can do better than this. Luckily, he has just the thing to straighten out Nigeria. “Jaga Jaga Reloaded” is coming in hot with a truth bomb that we haven’t seen the likes of in decades! Ordior is here to support the rights of this song, because it’s an important milestone in social justice. Now any royalties earned by the song will be delivered to the deserving hands of the true creators, not lost in cyberspace, and any rights management issues Eedris encounters will be swiftly dealt with. With this, we can be certain that Eedris will continue to be able to sustain his career and continue bringing us excellent tracks that shine a light on corruption just like this one.
Time for a little background. In 2004, Eedris dropped the original “Jaga Jaga”, which was even more controversial than his previous albums, which were known for calling out corruption in Nigeria’s various systems of power, and expressing outrage over the suffering of Nigeria’s citizens. Jaga Jaga is no different in this respect. The song was banned on radio and television stations by the then-president, Olusegun Obasanjo. In 2005, the rapper launched his own record label known as Lakreem Music, and released his 4th album “Letter To Mr President”, an album which addresses Obasanjo’s criticisms on the song “Jaga Jaga”. Eedris has never been one to back down, and the fact that he’s still pushing the Jaga Jaga mantra after all these years truly shows that! After all, there’s still strife in the world left to be corrected. Eedris has never been one to shy away from making a statement, and this is one of many biting stances he has taken to aim for more justice in this cruel world. Through the power of music, Eedris is able to broadcast a message loud and clear, while still managing to throw down a sick beat. He makes no compromises to his integrity, whether it be musical or political! Eedris Abdulkareem has always been known to be an artist who knows how to meld an important moral and beautiful music into one catchy and deep fusion. One could say he is like a spiritual successor or an estranged brother to Femi Kuti, as he knows how to pull in the crowds and tell an important message at the same time.
With his combination effort with the other two featuring artists, Eedris has really turned heads in the Nigerian music world, and Jaga Jaga is making just as big of a splash as the original one! Mr Raw and Madarocka Chi were excellent choices to help drive home the message of this excellent track.
Mr Raw aka Okechukwu Edwards Ukeje is a musical visionary! He’s one of the pioneers of Igbo Rap, a rap style that uses the Igbo language and Pidgin English. A fusion between traditional and modern, Igbo Rap draws inspiration from both its historical Igbo roots and modern African American urban styles! You won’t hear anything else like it… and you won’t hear another Igbo artist like Mr Raw! A musical pioneer breaking new ground!
And as for Madarocka Chi, she’s a great many things including a Naijamerican MC/Indie Hip Hop Talent, a theatre performer, a radio and TV hostess, a DJ, a Forex trader, and of course an African Hip-Hop Renaissance Mogul! Her excellent and soulful voice helps drive home the hard-hitting and heartfelt morals in this track, and she really helps the whole thing shine brightly. Between her, Mr Raw, and Eedris himself, the trio balance this song perfectly and bring out all its strengths in all the right areas!
